Project Overview

This Ajax project began with a hidden issue. The homeowner had dealt with leaks in the past, and during our inspection we found that some of the plywood underneath had been damaged because of it.Before moving forward with the metal roof installation, we removed the affected section, replaced it with new plywood, sealed it with a Strotex Dynamic membrane, and then completed the roofing system using our double wood strapping technology. At MROOF, we never install metal panels over exposed wood - there must always be a protective layer in place.

Project Challenges

The main challenge was addressing structural damage caused by past leaks. Some of the plywood had weakened and could not be left as is. Installing a new roof over compromised wood is never an option. The repair had to be done properly first, and the surface needed to be fully sealed before moving forward. Proper preparation is what determines how long a roof truly lasts.

Installation Process

Stage 2: Membrane Protection & Double Wood Strapping

Once the new plywood was in place, we sealed the area with a Strotex Dynamic membrane to provide an additional layer of protection. At MROOF, we always make sure there is at least one protective layer beneath the metal panels — either existing shingles or a membrane. We then installed our double wood strapping system, creating proper ventilation and a secure base for the metal roof.

Stage 1: Plywood Replacement

One of the things that we noticed during our inspection was that there was a part of the plywood that had been damaged by leaks in the past and could not be left there. We therefore removed the damaged part and replaced it with new plywood.

Stage 3: Metal Panels Installation

After the roof had been properly repaired and protected, we began installing the metal panels. The panels were carefully placed to ensure that they were straight and clean. Since the foundation had been properly prepared, the metal roof installation now has a foundation that will support it for many years to come.

Stage 4: Final Touches

To complete the project, we finished all detailing, secured ridge components, and sealed key transition areas to ensure the roof was fully weather-tight. Every connection was checked to make sure the system not only looked clean but was built to last.

Results

The final result is more than just a new metal roof. The underlying issue was properly repaired, the structure was reinforced, and the entire system was installed according to MROOF standards. The homeowner now has a durable, protected, and professionally engineered roof — with no exposed wood and no shortcuts taken.
