Project Overview

MROOF just completed a metal roof project, including the garage, in Kitchener. The issue with the roof started when the shingles began curling, which was a clear sign that it was time to replace them with a more durable solution of metal panels. The homeowner decided not only to change the home’s roof but the garage roof as well, which we completed in the same style and color.

Project Challenges

The curling roof on the house and garage meant that an even surface had to be created before the installation of the metal roof system. The fact that the house and garage had to be done at the same time meant that consistency in structure and appearance had to be maintained.

Installation Process

Stage2: Metal Panel Installation

Once we completed preparing the base for the roof, we started installing metal panels across the whole roof area that we take this project step very responsibly because this is the time when the project is coming closer to the result.

Stage 1: Double Wood Strapping

We started by adding double wood strapping on top of the existing roof. Since the old roof had begun to curl, it was necessary to provide a straight and solid foundation before proceeding. This step also enhances ventilation and ensures the entire metal roofing system functions properly.

Stage 3: Ridge Vent & Final Details

After the metal panels were installed, we completed the ventilation system to create proper airflow through the attic. We closed it off with the ridge cap and completed all of the remaining finishing details. This was a very important step, as roof leaks are often caused by poor ventilation.

Stage 4: Extra Snow Stops & Garage

The homeowner’s driveway is directly below the roof slope where the car is parked, so we suggested adding extra snow stops to prevent heavy snow from falling off the roof during the winter. This will help protect the vehicle and improve overall safety. Along with the main roof, we completed the garage roof using the same technique.

Results

The homeowner now has a clean, uniform metal roof on both the house and garage, eliminating the risks caused by curling shingles and ensuring long-term protection. With the added snow stops above the driveway, heavy snow will no longer slide off the roof onto the parked car, providing safer winter conditions and extra peace of mind.
