Project Overview

The homeowners replaced their old shingle roof and added a roof extension over the porch. Since this included both new and existing parts, timing was important. Once the extension was completed, we immediately started the roofing process to protect the exposed plywood. We installed a Roofnado LapLock ice and water shield membrane, followed by double wood strapping and metal panels. The homeowners were very happy with the final result.

Project Challenges

This project required careful timing. We had to wait for the porch extension to be fully built before starting the roofing work. Once ready, we had to act quickly to avoid leaving the plywood exposed to weather. The combination of new and existing roof sections also required precise alignment to keep everything consistent.

Installation Process

Stage 2: Waterproofing & Base Preparation

We covered the plywood with Roofnado LapLock ice and water shield membrane. Double wood strapping was then installed to create a strong and ventilated base.

Stage 1: Roof Inspection & Planning

We inspected the existing roof and reviewed the new porch extension to plan the installation. Timing was coordinated to start right after construction was completed.

Stage 3: Metal Panels Installation

Metal panels were installed across the entire roof surface. This ensured full protection and a clean, consistent look.

Stage 4: Roof Extension Integration

The new porch extension was seamlessly tied into the main roof. The final result is one unified metal roofing system.

Results

The home now has a complete and durable metal roofing system covering both the original structure and the new porch extension. The roof is fully protected with a Roofnado LapLock membrane and reinforced with double wood strapping. The final result looks clean and uniform.
