Project Overview

The homeowners called MROOF because their 22-year-old shingle roof was worn out and leaking at a back dormer in the winter. The house is in the snow belt, so the roof had to handle harsh weather. Our objective was to improve the strength of the roofing system. We upgraded the waterproof protection and improved the ventilation to handle snow and moisture more effectively. At the homeowner’s request, we also added tie-off loops for safe future roof access.

Project Challenges

The main issue was a leak from the back dormer. The shingles were 22 years old and worn out. The house is in the snow belt, where winters are long and snow is heavy. We knew the new roof had to handle these conditions without problems. Strong waterproofing and proper ventilation were needed to prevent the leaks from coming back.

Installation Process

Stage 2: Membrane and Double Wood Strapping

We installed a synthetic waterproof membrane on the roof to protect the roof from any weather conditions: rain, snow, storm and so on. Then we added double wood strapping according to our technique. This created a strong base for the next step.

Stage 1: Roof Inspection

MROOF team inspected the old shingle roof. Then we found the leak by checking the back dormer. This step was very important as we have to clearly understand the plan of construction for this specific metal roof project.

Stage 3: Metal Panel Installation

We installed the metal panels using our technique. Each panel was aligned and secured properly.

Stage 4: Finishing Touches

We completed the final details on the roof such as ridge caps and snow stops. We also checked the ventilation system to make sure we solved the problem successfully. And by the homeowners request we also installed tie-off loops for safe future roof access.

Results

The water intrusion from the back dormer was fixed. The new roofing system now has strong waterproof protection and improved ventilation. The home is better prepared for heavy snow and harsh winter conditions. The homeowner now has a secure and reliable roof built to last.
