Project Overview
The homeowners came to MROOF with problems with ice dams during winter and spring. The house had an aluminum roof installed over old shingles. The aluminum tiles lifted over time and caused leaks. We removed the old aluminum roof and the shingles. We built a strong, leak-free base. We improved the attic ventilation and installed a new metal roof. Now the home has a strong and reliable roof for Canadian winters.
Project Challenges
The challenges MROOF Team had were the existing aluminum roof that had been installed over old shingles and the lifted aluminum tiles that created possible leak points. We removed both layers carefully to avoid damaging the roof base. The ice dam problems in winter and spring showed that the ventilation was not working properly. We improved the attic airflow to help prevent the issue from happening again.
Installation Process
Stage 2: Membrane & Double Wood Strapping
After exposing the roof deck, we installed the self-adhesive Roofnado LapLock ice and water shield membrane to fully protect the surface. Then we applied double wood strapping according to our technology to create a strong and ventilated base for the new metal roof.
Stage 1: Aluminum Roof Removal
We removed the existing aluminum roof along with the old shingles underneath. Both layers were carefully taken off to protect the roof base. We put all waste into a bin to keep the area clean.
Stage 3: Metal Panel Installation
We started installing the metal panels according to our technology. We used high-quality ThyssenKrupp galvanized steel for durability and low maintenance.
Stage 4: Final Touches & System Completion
We installed a tall vent to improve attic ventilation and completed all finishing details. The system was carefully checked to ensure everything was sealed, secure, and ready to handle harsh weather conditions.
Results
We completed the installation to a high standard. The new metal roof is strong and reliable. The improved ventilation and waterproof protection stopped the ice dam problem. The homeowners now have long-term protection and peace of mind.
