Project Overview

We recently completed a European-style metal roof installation in Hamilton’s Liuna Court, replacing an old and failing shingle roof that could no longer provide adequate protection. The homeowner chose this upgrade for its modern appearance and superior durability, ensuring the home remains stylish and secure for years to come.

Project Challenges

Our key challenges during this project were replacing two aging skylights, which required careful framing, waterproofing, and sealing to ensure a secure fit. Additionally, sections of the roof where shingles had worn away needed extra waterproofing to prevent potential leaks. The steep slope of the roof added another layer of difficulty, requiring extra care and attention to safely install the metal panels properly.

Installation Process

Stage 1: Roof Preparation and Wood Stripping

We started by covering exposed areas where shingles had worn away with a waterproofing material to ensure water protection. Next, vertical wooden strips were installed over the existing shingles to create a sturdy base for the new metal roof. During this stage, attic vent outlets were removed and sealed to prepare for the installation.

Stage 2: Flashings and Valleys Installation

The next step involved installing valleys and starter flashings along the roof’s edges and vulnerable points. These components ensured proper water flow and added an essential layer of protection, preventing water infiltration and securing the foundation for the metal roof panels.

Stage 3: Metal Roof Installation

The black Monterey-style metal roof panels were installed with precision, starting at the bottom and working upwards. Each panel was carefully aligned and securely fastened to ensure there were no gaps, creating a seamless and durable finish that could withstand the elements

Stage 4: Skylights and Final Touches

Two new skylights were added with precise framing, waterproofing, and sealing to ensure they were watertight and secure. Ridge vent outlets were covered with a metal mesh, and ridge caps were installed for extra durability. The project was completed with the addition of gables and snow stops, followed by a thorough inspection to confirm the roof’s flawless finish and functionality.
