Project Overview

MROOF recently completed a metal roofing installation for a homeowner in Mississauga, aiming to replace a 20-year-old shingle roof. With neighbors transitioning to metal roofs due to their aging shingles, the homeowner took a proactive approach to prevent potential leaks and ensure long-term protection. This project, completed in Mocha Brown, was designed to give the homeowner peace of mind as he approaches retirement

Project Challenges

Upon inspection, leaks were discovered in the garage area due to gaps between bricks in the wall, allowing rainwater to seep in. While we sealed the gaps with silicone to prevent further water intrusion, we also recommended that the homeowner consult a brickwork specialist for a more permanent solution

Installation Process

Stage 1:  Roof Reinforcement

We began by installing vertical wood strapping over the existing shingles. This reinforced the roof's structure and ensured a solid connection to the framing beneath. Horizontal wood strips were then added to create a stable base for the metal panels

Stage 2: Metal Panel Installation

The homeowner selected Monterey-style metal tiles in Mocha Brown to complement the home’s exterior. We installed starter flashings around the roof perimeter to secure the edges and ensure proper water flow into the gutters. The panels were installed from bottom to top, with each overlapping for a watertight seal

Stage 3: Snow Guards Installation

Given the snowy winters in Mississauga, we installed snow guards to prevent large amounts of snow from sliding off the roof at once. This simple yet essential addition ensures safety for both the homeowner and the surrounding property during winter months

Stage 4: Ventilation System Upgrade

To improve airflow and energy efficiency, we replaced the outdated ventilation outlets with a ridge ventilation system. This new system allows hot air to escape efficiently, reducing heat buildup in the attic and extending the roof's lifespan
